Also gotta give a Happy Born Day salute to legendary Bronx, NYC-born DJ, producer and emcee Kid Capri, who turns 52 today. As one of hip hop's all-time best known and enduring DJs, Capri first made a name for himself by putting out various street mixtapes, most notably 1992's breakbeat tape 52 Beats. As a producer he has worked on albums from Jay-Z, KRS-One, Grand Puba, the late, great Heavy D and others. Capri dropped his solo rap debut album The Tape (produced entirely by Juice Crew legend Biz Markie and his DJ, Cool V) in 1991 on Cold Chillin' Records. Seven years later, he dropped Soundtrack To The Streets, a self-produced compilation album featuring collaborations with Jay-Z, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg, Warren G, Slick Rick, The Lox, Foxy Brown, Luke, Brand Nubian, Ras Kass, the late, great Big Punisher and many more. Capri is still endlessly doing his thing to this day, but is long overdue to drop a new full-length project.
SELF-PRESERVATION is the first law of nature. Why are our people so enraged and upset by #liamneeson
admitting he wanted to kill one of us? Because we are the only people who will have something wrong done to us then want to march, protest and sing stupid shit like “we shall overcome” Then get surprised when everyone but us practises the first law of nature If you really have a personal bias which means you favour your own people; when they are wronged, especially by the most (racially) opposing person, it’s natural to feel vengeful.
