Liverpool returned home from Belgrade immediately after the final whistle on Tuesday, meaning the players were back in training at Melwood on Wednesday. It was before that session the post-match analysis meeting was held in which the performance against Red Star was dissected and discussed between backroom staff and players. "There is only one real assessment that counts and it’s mine, which is why I don’t do it directly after a game,” Klopp continued, explaining why he elects to discuss performances the day after games. “We have all our emotions and stuff like that, frustration is not a good advisor or a good feeling for analysis in a meeting with players. It’s not that I feel better afterwards because I have said all the things I had in my mind in that moment. If I am angry, it doesn’t help. A full night and maybe a morning helps to see the things in the right way, at least in my understanding. During the week, if I think it is necessary and we have enough time then we can talk about different things, but usually after the meeting the day after the game, it is done then we prepare for the next one.” #LFC #YNWA #Klopp #JurgenKlopp #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #LIVFUL

Jurgen Klopp's message is that Liverpool’s start to the Premier League campaign should be viewed as positive. Klopp said: “Now we have to see our situation. It is a very positive situation, the season so far point-wise in the Premier League is really successful but it doesn’t feel really like that for two reasons - the comparison with last year and the free-flowing football in a few games and Man City, Chelsea and a few others have played a very good season as well. That should not be a surprise for us and it isn’t. It looks and feels a bit like – and I feel it from all the questions I get asked around games - this season can only be a success if we become champion this year. In a year when our competitors are the champions of last year, the champions of two 年前發佈, a refreshed Arsenal, a more experienced Tottenham – they’ve struggled line-up wise, but have a similar number of points to what we have - and Man United and all that stuff. It’s a really tough job but we have no problem with that. We go for everything, we have to build on our situation, to get better, to build more confidence. It’s all OK, but this game on Tuesday was, of course, a massive knock which was not expected. So now we have to react for us in the right way - but not only on Sunday, in general.” #LFC #YNWA #Klopp #JurgenKlopp #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #LIVFUL
Nabil Fekir is expecting to secure a move away from Lyon in the summer after missing out on one earlier this year. It is not known whether the Reds will step up their interest in the playmaker in the summer, but he has now been strongly linked with both Liverpool's Premier League rivals Chelsea and German giants Bayern Munich. And L'Equipe now claim that the Lyon star is already thinking of his future ahead of next summer's transfer window, when he will have just one year left on his contract and is much more likely to move away from the club. He has reportedly indicated that he will not sign a new deal, with Lyon preparing to let him go. #LFC #YNWA #NabilFekir #Fekir #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #TransferWindow #Lyon

Liverpool's talented teenage attacker Rafael Camacho is catching the eye of a host of Europe's elite clubs. Camacho, 18, has impressed for club and country during the last 18 months and his development is attracting attention across the continent. Porto, Benfica and Sporting Lisbon all long-term admirers of the skilful forward and are keen. Camacho, who joined Liverpool from Manchester City in 2016, made an impression in pre-season, catching the eye in games against Borussia Dortmund, City and Manchester United. The Portugal Under 20 international is waiting for his competitive first-team debut, but he is highly-regarded by Reds boss Jurgen Klopp and was an unused substitute in last season's Merseyside derby against Everton at Goodison Park. The winger is entering the final 18 months of his current contract at Anfield and Liverpool are keen to tie him down to a longer term deal. But Camacho's suitors are actively keeping updated on his situation in hope he could be tempted away in search first-team football given the wealth of attacking talent at Klopp's disposal. #LFC #YNWA #RafaelCamacho #Camacho #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague
Jürgen Klopp wants everyone connected with Liverpool to show a positive reaction when Fulham come to Anfield on Sunday. Asked whether Sunday’s game could be an opportunity for his side to bolster their goal difference, the manager replied: “I would really be an idiot - a few people think I am, but not that much – to talk about any goal difference before the game. I’m not sure how many Fulham games you’ve watched over 90 minutes - not only Match of the Day or a summary of stuff like that - but this is a really strange situation for Fulham. I can really imagine how they feel in the moment – the football is good, a lot of things are really good, they caused Manchester City problems in the Carabao Cup… it’s been really good football in a lot of moments. We have to defend them. They are a skilled team offensively and tuned in doing a lot of things. The end product, the finishing was maybe not so good often enough but they’ve scored goals. On the other hand, they’ve conceded, but you will never score a goal against a team like Fulham with their quality only because you go into the game with the wrong attitude and think about scoring, scoring, scoring. This game is a big challenge, really, for all of us. We have to make sure we really don’t forget what kind of a good situation we are in. @the_red_post - Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita are available for Liverpool's meeting with Fulham on Sunday. Captain Henderson has missed the Reds' last four matches, while Keita has been sidelined for five games. However, the midfield duo have recovered from their respective hamstring problems and are in contention to face Fulham, Jürgen Klopp confirmed on Friday. "It's good to have them back, it's probably the first time that all midfield players apart from Ox are available," said the boss. "That’s then another thing to do, making decisions, who starts with who, stuff like that. It’s all about their fitness level, form, shape, whatever and then we will see." "When Jordan is not available we always miss him," Klopp stated. "I would love to say Hendo would have changed the whole game [versus Red Star Belgrade], but I am not really sure about it, the whole game was kind of strange and not us or whatever and the game before was Arsenal. That was actually an absolutely OK game but we only have to admit, and maybe a few people were surprised, that Arsenal are a good football team. They caused us problems, we caused them problems. Owners Fenway Sports Group have dismissed “unfounded speculation” that they are willing to sell Liverpool Football Club. A report in the New York Post claimed that principal owner John W Henry was privately entertaining offers for the Reds and would consider bids in excess of $2billion (£1.53billion). They reported that Henry had embarked on a “passive sales process” but Liverpool's American owners are adamant they have no intention of selling the club they bought back in October 2010. A Liverpool spokesperson said: “As loathed as we are to give a story of this nature a meaningful response, on behalf of the club’s ownership I can completely dismiss this unfounded speculation. To repeat once again, the club is not for sale, including any ‘quiet process’ or anything of that nature.” FSG delivered a similar message back in August after reports that they had been in talks with Abu Dhabi-based Sheik Khaled Bin Zayed Al Nehayan, the cousin of Manchester City owner Sheik Mansour, over a potential £2billion takeover. Liverpool's owners use the services of Allen & Company, a New York-based boutique investment bank, to vet and filter the succession of inquiries they get from potential investors. They insisted that the discussions with Sheik Khaled didn't get past the vetting stage with Allen & Company because it was judged to be neither credible nor worthwhile to be put to major shareholders Henry and Mike Gordon. While a full takeover isn't on the agenda, FSG remain open to the idea of selling a minority stake in return for the right investment. #LFC #YNWA #FSG #FenwaySportsGroup #JohnWHenry #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #LIVFUL
Liverpool need Fabinho and Naby Keita to step up, the Reds legend Jan Molby claims. "How you improve as a team is by bringing in players better than those already at the club. Liverpool sought to do that in the summer by signing Fabinho and Naby Keita to strengthen the midfield. We thought they would come in and be better than what we already have and offer something different. They might still be. But so far, they haven't proven to be the difference we wanted. If anything, we look a lesser team than last year, especially in midfield. That's disappointing. The only way we can improve the current squad right now is by the new signings stepping up. They have to show more than they have so far. Liverpool have been missing Jordan Henderson. With Jurgen Klopp as manager, Liverpool play a certain way and Henderson is well suited to that. You know exactly what you're going to get form him. He's never going to be Andrea Pirlo as a deep-lying playmaker and he certainly has his qualities." Arsenal and Liverpool are battling it out for Club Brugge forward Cyril Ngonge. Belgium under-19s striker Ngonge, 18, has scored four goals in four games in the UEFA Champions Youth League and has caught the eye of scouts. Ngonge is seen as one of Belgium's brightest young talents and the two Premier League giants have been watching his progress. He has shone in the games and top clubs are looking to see if they could get him before he breaks through further. Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Lille and Inter Milan have also been represented at the UEFA Youth League games with Monaco, Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid. After beginning the first three matches of the campaign, Naby Keita has been restricted by a number of factors to only 304 minutes since being substituted shortly after the hour mark of a slender victory over Brighton on August 25. The expectation was the £53 million midfielder would add a fresh dimension and watching Liverpool stutter against Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday signposted how such prophecies must also now become a reality. In the noisy, cavernous bowl of the Stadion Rajko Mitic, the visitors lacked anyone in the engine room capable of bringing order to the chaos, adding a flourish of creativity and ensuring the game was played to Liverpool’s tune instead of the beat set by raucous hosts. Keïta watched the tumult play out on the sidelines, alongside another expensive summer midfield recruit in £43 million Fabinho, having just returned to the squad following a hamstring injury which interrupted his quest for meaningful rhythm. Yet it feels like the time is now right to see just what Keïta can do over a run of games, starting with Fulham on Sunday, as Liverpool seek to rediscover their spark in what is developing into an incongruous campaign. Keïta was perceived as the panacea for any problems in midfield and Fabinho trumpeted as a transfer coup, too. It is time for at least one of them to prove as much. First up should be Keïta. Liverpool have been linked with teenage striker Victor Christopher de Baunbag, who has been tipped to make a breakthrough at Real Mallorca. The 18-year-old, whose family comes from Cameroon but was himself born in Madrid, has risen through the academy ranks at the second-tier Spanish side. Victor has spent three years in the youth ranks at Mallorca and finished as the club's top scorer every season, leading him to a promotion to the club's 'B' team. According to Catalan newspaper Sport, he will drop into the Under-18s set-up to play the bigger fixtures, with Victor primed to face off against Barcelona this weekend. The story suggests he is expected to earn first-team minutes with Mallorca by the end of the campaign, with the six foot two forward considered an ideal fit for the Premier League. This, seemingly, has alerted Liverpool's scouts, with Sport claiming they have been tracking his progress for a while, with the player's agency aware of interest. Liverpool will be aware of Mallorca having sent Colombian centre-back Anderson Arroyo there on loan last season, with the player now with Belgian club Genk as he looks to earn a work permit at Anfield. Arroyo was initially meant to spend two seasons with the Spanish outfit, but the Reds cancelled the deal in the summer after deciding his development would be best served moving elsewhere. #LFC #YNWA #deBaunbag #VictroDeBaunbag #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #Mallorca
Andy Robertson insists Liverpool will recover from their Belgrade nightmare to reach the knockout stages of the Champions League. However, the Reds left-back admits that Jurgen Klopp's side need to rediscover their “spark” after a wretched 2-0 defeat at the hands of Red Star. Asked if he believed Liverpool could win in Paris, he said: “Of course, we have to. We believe we can win every game and that's always been the case with us. “We can perform a lot better than the two away games we've had, they've been off days and we need to look at that, of course we do. Away from home last season, we were very good in the Champions League. This season we've found that a bit difficult. Arguably, we're still to play the best team away and we need to go there and put in a much better performance than we have done here. “Look, we knew this group was going to be tough and it's proving that way It's a tight group and it'll go right to the wire. “We've got two games coming up that we'll look forward to and we know what we need to do in them. We're still confident we'll get through but we need to go to try and prove that now.” “I think it's one of those periods we need to get through,” Robertson said. “Fair play to Red Star, they battled hard, defended for their lives second half and we just couldn't quite break them down. Away to Napoli, we were poor, very poor. We tried to hang on and deserved what we got, even though it was so late on. Against Red Star it was the exact same. We had chances to go in front. Sevilla are considering a return for Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno. The left back is out of contract at Anfield in the summer and is free to talk to foreign clubs from January. Liverpool would like to recoup some of the £12million they paid for the 26-year-old rather than lose him for nothing, however, Sevilla are unsure whether to risk splashing out in January rather than wait until the summer. Adam Lallana is certain Liverpool will react to the disappointment of defeat to Red Star Belgrade in the right way. “As players we’ve got to take responsibility. It was a slow start all round really, and we gave them far too many opportunities - especially from set-pieces,” the No.20 told. “We had chances and we came out at the start of the second half which was better, but we weren’t ruthless enough and we weren’t patient enough. They time-wasted and we lost momentum but to come in 2-0 down wasn’t like us and we’ve got to take full responsibility and make sure that doesn’t happen again. It’s still in our hands and if we win our next two games we go through, but it was a great opportunity missed for us. Of course there will be a reaction. It’s not the first time we’ve lost games and it’s about how you react and how you bounce back but we are thoroughly disappointed to come away with nothing. “That’s the Champions League and there’s no teams that enter this competition that give you wins,” the England international continued. “We knew it was going to be completely different to the game at Anfield a fortnight ago but it wasn’t to be. It wasn’t like us. Liverpool legend Graeme Souness believes Jurgen Klopp made a mistake on Tuesday night by leaving Roberto Firmino and Joe Gomez out of the starting XI. When asked what the fatal mistake was for Liverpool, Souness replied: “I think not starting with Firmino or Joe Gomez. The fact they were on the bench and came on half time suggests they were fine so it wasn’t them carrying something. I think the message it sends to the rest of the players was, ‘You won 4-0 last time we’ll be fine again tonight.’ I’m of the belief you start with your strongest team, get the game won and then get off the players you want to rest. I think that message by not picking your strongest team to start with would have an effect with some of the players who did start. They weren’t at it. They didn’t start right and when you don’t start right, it really is an uphill battle to get the momentum back again. I felt they handed the momentum to Red Star and they managed to keep it for the rest of the game. They’re not at the level they were at last year, Liverpool.” #LFC #YNWA #Firmino #Gomez #Souness #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #UCL
Tim Sherwood thinks Liverpool need to admit to having had a “bad day at the office” after falling to defeat against Red Star Belgrade. Sherwood believes it was a “reality check” for the Reds, who remain unbeaten in the Premier League but now face a real challenge to progress in Europe this season. “It’s a reality check for them,” Sherwood said. “But they’re still in the competition and yes, they do have tough games coming up but they have to believe and I’m sure they do. It was very easy for them last season in the Champions League last season. Look how many goals they scored in the competition last season, they were scoring at will. They started like that in the early part of the campaign so they’ve got that real belief there. They are confident, they’ve got that swagger about them and they believe they can go on and win this competition, and rightly so having been finalists last season." "I thought it [the performance] was sluggish,” he said. “They didn’t have the spark. They normally play at 100 miles per hour and when they break forward very quickly that’s when they are at their best. They didn’t do that and you have to give Red Star a lot of credit because they made it very difficult. I think it might be on the back of a hangover after a tough game against Arsenal. They suffered from that game and they just have to dust themselves down and say it’s a bad day at the office.” #LFC #YNWA #Sherwood #Klopp #JurgenKlopp #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #UCL

Jamie Carragher says Liverpool can't afford to panic in the title race, but thinks the Reds only have one chance of finishing above Manchester City. "It will have been disappointing for Liverpool to concede that goal (to Arsenal)," said Carragher on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football. But I think Liverpool supporters, myself included obviously, need to just relax a little bit. You'd think Liverpool had lost the league after the game at the weekend because it's "ah it's two points dropped! Man City are going two points clear! There's a long way to go. Man City are better than Liverpool, everyone knows that. But that doesn't mean Liverpool can't win the league. I think Liverpool's hope of winning the league will come in the second half of the season if City go far in the Champions League. Their focus will be on that and then they might take their eye off the ball in the league. That's the only chance Liverpool have got because City are better than them." #LFC #YNWA #Carragher #JamieCarragher #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #ManCity

Having previously been defeated away to Roma and Napoli, it's the first time Liverpool have lost three successive games on their travels in Europe's elite club competition since 1979. "We have to make sure it will not happen again otherwise it will be difficult as the next game is already an away game against PSG," Klopp said. The last one is a very difficult home game against Napoli. We have to make sure you cannot ask that question again. It is too early to say that is how it is. We have to make sure in Paris that we do better. There were a lot of moments when we could get in control of the game and we didn't do, we made the wrong decision. It just happened. We will talk about it but tonight we can’t change it." #LFC #YNWA #Klopp #JurgenKlopp #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #UCL
Liverpool are missing the creative spark of Philippe Coutinho, claims former Reds striker Michael Owen. Owen reckons Liverpool still have got what it takes to get through, claiming they perform better against stronger opposition. However, he claims Liverpool struggle to break down weaker sides who look to sit back and hit them on the counter. “I think so (the way PSG set up will play into Liverpool’s hands),” Owen said. “I think Liverpool playing against better teams over the last period of time, last five-10 years, Liverpool play well against the better teams. They almost suit them, they come out to play, Liverpool can nick the ball back in dangerous areas and go and attack. Breaking down teams, obviously Coutinho has long gone now, but he had that little bit of guile to break a team down that sat back. Liverpool have got pace in their team but if a team sits back, you need a little bit of imagination. I think it just makes it easier against those better teams. Liverpool need one big result from the last two games now.” Liverpool return to Premier League action on Sunday when Fulham visit Anfield (12pm). #LFC #YNWA #Klopp #Owen #Coutinho #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #UCL

Red Star hadn't won a game at this level since they last graced Europe's elite in 1992. However, Klopp played down suggestions that Liverpool had under-estimated the Serbian champions. "We were not surprised," he said. "In the first half, it was similar to the game at Anfield, it was wild and direct. In Liverpool we then controlled the game but tonight we didn’t. They were aggressive, they were aggressive in the last game as well, we only did better. We made life a bit too easy tonight for Belgrade. That is the main problem. They deserved it in the end with the passion they showed. At the end you have to score goals. If you think how often we were in their box and around it that is what you have to do but you have to make the last decision in the right way and we didn’t. That’s why we lost 2-0. Pavkov played a fantastic game, The second goal I think he surprised himself." #LFC #YNWA #Klopp #JurgenKlopp #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #UCL
Liverpool will play in special shirts embroidered with poppies to commemorate #RemembranceDay when they host Fulham at Anfield on Sunday. The Reds' players will sign their jerseys after the match and donate them to the Royal British Legion for auction to raise funds for the Poppy Appeal. Last year, the special edition shirts worn by the team during the fixture against Huddersfield Town raised £18,759.21 for the Royal British Legion. These vital funds help the organisation support today's generation of armed forces families and veterans, whether they are living with an injury or illness, coping with bereavement or finding employment. In addition to the minute's silence before the 12pm GMT kick-off, Liverpool's squad will also honour the two-minute silence at 11am, with stadium operations falling silent. Also, the stadium's flags will fly at half-mast throughout the day in honour of the fallen. Prior to kick-off, the teams will be led onto the pitch by Royal British Legion standard bearers Lyndsey Taggart and Eddie Flaherty, along with two service men from the RAF, Sergeant John Bullock and Corporal Jeremy Ambrose. #LFC #YNWA #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #UCL
Liverpool travel to Paris Saint-Germain later this month before finishing the group stage at home to Napoli. And Milner, speaking to BT Sport, said: “We just need to go out and win our games, and as long as that's the case it's on our shoulders and we have to be big enough to do that. We know we can beat both teams. They are two very good sides left to play. It's down to us, it's in our hands. We've shown we are a very good team but we will have to play better than we did tonight.” "It was a nice atmosphere to play in, the crowd is pretty big for them and it's been a long time since they've been in the Champions League, so it was always going to be a big game,” said Milner. Napoli came here and found it tough also. It's not an easy place to come and we knew that but we didn't do our job.” #LFC #YNWA #Milner #jamesMilner #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #UCL
Jurgen Klopp insisted it wasn't a case of his players simply not being able to handle the intimidating surroundings at the Rajko Mitić Stadium. “It was a good football atmosphere but it wouldn't have been impossible to perform to be honest," he said. "It was only loud. The atmosphere singing wise, noise wise, was not a problem but the atmosphere after the second goal especially – in the whole club – they could smell it. Half-time it is a long way to the dressing room and they were in a very positive mood and we were the other way around. They gave everything. For us it was not clicking, it was not easy. We never came back into situations. We had the moments, we played good balls in at the right moments, but then we had the ball in the box and we cannot really finish. They get a leg in between. I saw a few games like this already and it is really difficult to find your mojo back. You can only do the right thing in the right moment. You have to be very natural. You try to solve problems on the pitch and you don't find solutions on the pitch, you solve problems. That’s a completely different situation." #LFC #YNWA #Klopp #JurgenKlopp #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #UCL
Leon Bailey has revealed that he turned down interest from Liverpool before moving to Bayer Leverkusen in January 2017. The versatile frontman explained why he felt it was important not to move to a superpower too early in his fledgling career, saying: "Manchester United, City, Chelsea, Liverpool - a lot of clubs were interested. But the most important thing as a pro is taking things a step at a time and not rushing to the top too quickly. Because once you get there, where do you go next? I believe the right timing is important, and it was the right moment to be at Bayer Leverkusen. They are a tremendous club with so much history. A lot of good players have come from there; they can get into the Champions League and are always doing well. So why not them? It was the perfect move for me and I’m happy I made it. My focus isn’t really on moving anywhere yet. I’m just about what’s happening right now rather than what could happen in the future. I’m still learning." Bailey signed a new contract with Leverkusen in August to keep him at the BayArena until 2023. #LFC #YNWA #LeonBailey #Bailey #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #UCL
James Milner admits Liverpool paid the price for another slow start that has left their Champions League hopes hanging in the balance. When asked where it went wrong, skipper Milner said: “From the first whistle. We didn't start well enough and that showed with them getting the two goals. In the second half we were better, we had enough chances to get back into the game and we didn't take them and you get punished. All over the field, we didn't win the ball back well enough and the passing wasn't good enough. In all areas, we didn't start and when you don't start well in the Champions League you can get punished. I thought it was a pretty good reaction in the second half, and had an pretty good chance just after half-time and if that gone on it would have been a bit of a boost. We kept fighting to the end playing and kept patient which was a positive but you can't give teams a start in this competition.” #LFC #YNWA #Milner #jamesMilner #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #UCL
Jurgen Klopp reflected on Liverpool's woeful Champions League defeat to Red Star Belgrade and admitted: "We made life too easy for them." 🤦‍♂️ The Reds boss believes his players "lost their mojo" following Milan Pavkov's first-half double in the Serbian capital. Asked if he could put his finger on what went wrong, Klopp said: "I've only got 10 fingers! "The start was pretty intense it was clear, they wanted to strike back (after the 4-0 defeat at Anfield) and they did with good players, important players. Then the first big chance fell to Daniel Sturridge, a very big one. Each one like this leads the game in a specific direction. We gave them too many set-pieces. They scored with a header after the corner. The second goal was out of the blue, we gave the ball away and that's not cool in a game like this, an atmosphere like this, a situation like this. You then have to play your best football in a negative mood. it was a blow. We tried to change in the second half, we had some moments in the box, scruffy situations. If you score in a situation like that everything can change. Very dominant, didn't give a lot of counter-attacks away or something like that. We had moments, we had nearly chances but the biggest chances were in the last two or three minutes and that was not enough. If – big if – we had scored early in the second half it would have changed but we didn't. Congratulations to Red Star, they have three points and we have nothing." #LFC #YNWA #Klopp #JurgenKlopp #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #UCL
#LFC players' rating against Red Star: #Alisson 5 Palmed away a Nabouhane shot, had no chance with the opener but could have done better to keep out the second. #AlexanderArnold 4 Defensively under pressure and made some wrong decisions going forward. Another below-par display, and is becoming a concern. #VanDijk 5 Began well enough but a couple of wayward headers put Liverpool under pressure & contributed to the opener. Sent a header over. #Matip 5 Solid enough when called upon but could he have closed down Pavkov for the second? Should have scored with a header late on. #Robertson 6 Had a lot to do defensively first half, and became an auxiliary winger after the break. Saw a cross deflected on to the bar. #Wijnaldum 4 Too easily brushed off by Pavkov for the second and was anonymous in the first 45. Improved after the break, but not by much. #Milner 5 Put in the effort but the quality was lacking in the first half. Escaped conceding a second-half penalty for handball. Appeared tired. #Lallana 5 Saw a goalbound header deflected wide and a little sharper than of late but wasn't involved enough first half. Booked, and subbed. #Salah 6 Again always a threat when on the ball and an outlet down the right, saw a deflected shot saved and then hit the post. Unlucky. #Sturridge 4 Back in the starting line-up, missed a great chance early on then saw a shot deflected wide. Bit slack when in possession, & hooked at half-time. #Mane 5 A few strong runs down the left showed promise early on but faded in the second half. #Firmino (for Sturridge) 5 Started brightly but didn't make the difference he'd have liked. #Gomez (for Trent) 6 Filled in at right-back with a minimum of fuss. #LFC #YNWA #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #UCL

Last season's Champions League experience can help Liverpool during this new campaign, according Andy Robertson. "Of course. There was a few of us new to the Champions League last season and we gained invaluable experience by going the distance, obviously, and just falling short. But I feel we’ve took that into this campaign already and we’re a lot more experienced in dealing with these things. The semi-final at Rome was a special atmosphere as well and we dealt with that pretty well, so we’re looking to do that Tuesday night." "We play first and we’ve got a chance for a big three points and that’s what we’ve got to focus on. If we put it there then we're top of the group going into the last two games, which is obviously good for us. But we’ve just got to focus on the opponent that we’re playing and not the group. Hopefully we can get the three points and then we can focus on the last two games." #LFC #YNWA #Robertson #AndyRobertson #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #UCL
ürgen Klopp has compared vice-captain James Milner to a fine wine in the wake of his 50th Premier League goal during Saturday’s draw with Arsenal. Milner struck in the second half to put Liverpool 1-0 before Alexandra Lacazette equalised 20 minutes later. And Klopp revealed today that Milner had some strong words for his teammates at half time. "When you have a compact formation you give the opposition the opportunity to pass into a certain place and then you press,” said the Liverpool boss. “It's not that complicated. But Arsenal had two or three options to pass the ball, and that makes life pretty uncomfortable for the three midfielders. We were too high on the wings. We've done it outstandingly well in the past but we didn't do that in the first half. Millie was the one who saw it for us. He was not happy about it, he was animated. That's how it is in the dressing room. A lot of men with testosterone. Usually the only one talking is me, but sometimes before I start talking the boys have a few words. It's good that we could change it at half-time. And he was the right person to score the goal.” “Of course he is a leader. He is a proper leader. The problem wasn't the three (midfielders) that played. We couldn't change, we had no defensive midfielder on the bench which meant it was really difficult. Hendo wasn't there. Then there we had to think sizewise at set-pieces, to make sure that was organised. It was not too cool. The best way to go into a game is to do it right from the first moment and we can build on that, and we didn't do that. It meant it was always like 'what the heck is here?'. Offensively it was very good, we played football, got in behind the lines, had chances, scored a goal, but defensively it was not as good. “I like the idea that we write a story about Milner after the game. Maybe tomorrow somebody will write that he has to play for England again! That's a nice idea. Millie is like wine – a very good red one. Is Leeds famous for wine?!?” #LFC #YNWA #Milner #JamesMilner #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague

Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip will get opportunities to stake their claims to be in Jürgen Klopp’s team, said the Liverpool manager. With Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk in exceptional form as a central defensive partnership so far this season, Lovren and Matip have been limited to four and six appearances respectively. “It’s all good,” the boss told. “Dejan had a very intense year – then he had the World Cup after a very good season for us. After the World Cup he came back injured and had no pre-season. He needed to train. Since then he is stepping in. He is doing really well. Dejan had games and will have games. The harder thing is Joel. He is in a very good shape. He had a difficult last year as well. He came back and could do most of the pre-season. That’s how the situation is: it’s not forever, it’s always in the moment. You have to use moments and stuff like that. The boys have reacted pretty well so far but I didn’t expect anything different.” #LFC #YNWA #Lovren #DejanLovren #Matip #JoelMatip #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague
#Matchday ⚽ Red Star Belgrade v Liverpool 🔥 A very important game for us. It is difficult to play in Serbia as the support of the host side will be incredible and there will be enough pressure on Liverpool. But we have already have enough experience in that and have to cope easily. We also have a strong deep squad, so whoever play, we must get the three points! Andy Robertson wants Liverpool to use the ‘special atmosphere’ awaiting them at the Rajko Mitic Stadium as an inspiration as they seek to strengthen their grip on top spot in Champions League Group C. "We’re expecting another special atmosphere, of course. We’ve seen videos of the fans and it’s a special stadium. But we’ve got the experience of playing in these kind of stadiums before and we’ve just got to focus on the game at hand." "I think it will be tough. I think in the game at Anfield we scored at the right times and we were at 100 per cent. We knew if we were, we were confident we would get a result, which turned out that way. But I think they’re a different beast when they’re at home and I think they proved that against Napoli, obviously, getting a draw. They’ll be hoping to use that to their advantage, but we know if we play at 100 per cent again then we believe we’ve got the qualities to get the three points that we need and hopefully quieten the crowd." #LFC #YNWA #Robertson #AndyRobertson #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #UCL
Jürgen Klopp is certain Liverpool are well-equipped to handle the atmosphere awaiting them at Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday night. Asked what the biggest challenge will be for his side, Klopp replied: “The combination of atmosphere and football they play. I said it after the first game, I saw it in that game – we were really good that night and if we would have been a little bit less good then immediately Red Star would have been in the game. But, that night, we were really strong and that was good. We have to be very strong tomorrow again, football-wise. Atmosphere… we are from Liverpool so we know how big the influence can be. The only way I know to cool the atmosphere down is playing really good football. That’s what we have to try; to be ready for a fight and ready for a big game. We will be ready, that’s the only thing I can make sure of. Then the boys have to do the job on the pitch, of course. We are not the most experienced team in the world in this part of the game but in the last three years we had two years with long, long journeys. We were twice in a final; that means we are really used to difficult atmospheres and difficult situations. That’s what we have to be again tomorrow and then let’s do what we are best in – playing football – and try to win the game.” #LFC #YNWA #Klopp #JurgenKlopp #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #UCL
Jürgen Klopp is encouraged by Naby Keita’s form with Liverpool so far as the midfielder prepares to return from a hamstring injury. “It was a very good start. He did a proper pre-season from the first day, played fantastic games and made a good start in the league,” Klopp told. “Then he had two [injury] things – in Naples and then with the national team. It was not that long, it only feels it. It was four games. Yesterday was the first time in 100 per cent training so we will now have to see what we do with him for tomorrow. The start could have been a bit better, but only because of the injuries; all the rest was good.” “The intense weeks will come,” added Klopp. “A few intense weeks are behind us but now the most intense start: November, December, Boxing Day, different cup competitions. That is hard and we need all the players for that. Unfortunately, Hendo and Naby were out for a few weeks but they should be back at the latest for the next game. When we have a full choice we can make a few changes in the right moments. That’s cool.” #LFC #YNWA #Keita #NabyKeita #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague
Jurgen Klopp reflected on Liverpool's three years in Europe. “It was an intense start and from then on it went quite well,” Klopp told. "So far when we were involved in a European competition we were in the final - let’s carry on like this… or try! It’s getting more and more difficult but big things are still possible. So far it was absolutely OK, it was really interesting. If we would have won both finals, that would have been a thing! But the world is like this; you judge it because you won or lost one game. If you lose earlier, it’s not that dramatic. It’s all good, we’ll try again.” #LFC #YNWA #Klopp #JurgenKlopp #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague #UCL

While Shaqiri misses out the game at Belgrade, Naby Keita and Dejan Lovren return from injury. Jordan Henderson and Nathaniel Clyne will both miss out, although the Liverpool captain is in line to return at the weekend for what could be his first appearance since the 1-0 win over Huddersfield last month. “We will take pretty much everyone. Clyney is ill and will not be involved, but Dejan and Naby are back in the travelling squad," Klopp said. “Hendo was close, but not close enough. Andy Robertson on Virl van Dijk's chances and the Reds tactics. “When he chested it for the first chance, I thought ‘Goal’,” said Robertson. “But it was just unlucky and was right at the ‘keeper. He probably ran out of space. And then his header towards the back end of the first half was unlucky as well. He had a couple of chances and I’m sure he will be disappointed even though he’s a centre-back; on another day he could have had a couple of goals.” “We came under a bit of pressure and in the first half we probably didn’t get it quite right – they switched the play and were really good at overloading on both sides,” he said. It was tough and we changed the formation a bit at half-time and that helped us; obviously Millie helping Trent [Alexander-Arnold] out and Sadio [Mane] did a great job for me. It made it a bit more even and then it meant we could get forward a bit more as well. It was a good game but defensively we did come under a bit of pressure, especially in the last 10 minutes when they equalised, but we managed to stay strong.” #LFC #YNWA #Robertson #AndyRobertson #Liverpool #LiverpoolFC #WeAreLiverpool #LFCFamily #Anfield #TheReds #TheRedPost #PremerLeague
