WANT TO KNOW A SECRET??? Here’s the single biggest secret in the egg & poultry industry. Billions of baby chicks are ground up alive or suffocated to death on egg farms every year. Of the billions of chicks that are hatched, about half are female, half are male, as would be expected. The female chicks go on to be raised and killed as meat, or used as egg-layers. The males, though, are considered a waste product. They can’t be egg-layers, and they aren’t generally used for meat. So they “dispose” of this “waste product” by tossing them (alive and conscious) into a machine called a Macerator. Alternatively, many factories just bag the chicks up and throw the bags in the dumpster, and the chicks just suffocate and are crushed to death. Baby chicks... The epitome of innocence... It’s a hard truth to hear, I know...but if you eat commercial/grocery-store eggs this is what you’re supporting. No one with a heart could possibly support such a thing....please vote with your dollar and don’t buy eggs or any product with egg as an ingredient. #govegan #maketheconnection #peacebeginsonyourplate

7. Save water 💦 Water is such an important resource and we shouldn’t waste it. ▪️Only 3% of all the water is fresh water, and only 1% is available for drinking. Right now over 2,1 billion people don’t have access to safe drinking water. ▪️Saving water minimizes the effects of drought and water shortages. ▪️Agriculture accounts for 92% of the freshwater footprint of humanity; almost one third relates to animal agriculture. ▪️One egg takes 53 gallons (200L) of water to produce, a pound (0,45kg)of chicken 468 gallons (1771L), a gallon (3,78L) of cow’s milk 880 gallons (3331L), and a pound (0,45Kg) of beef 1,800 gallons (6813L). ▪️Save Energy. When you save energy, you also save water because power plant use a lot of water to produce electricity. ▪️Tips like the following can reduce your water consumption and bill up to a 40%. ▪️Take a shower instead of a bath and turn off the faucet when brushing teeth, washing the dishes, shaving or washing your hands. ▪️Reuse your cooking liquid (pasta, potatoes, steamed veggies, grains, legumes) as a base for a broth or to water your plants. ▪️Don’t run the dishwasher or washing machine until it’s full. ▪️Fix any leaks. A slow drip from a leaking faucet can waste as much as 20 gallons (75L) of water a day. A leaky toilet can waste 200 gallons (750L) a day. ▪️Collect rainwater by installing a rain barrel. This is the best water for watering your plants. ▪️Flush with less. Older toilets use a lot of water. You can reduce your usage by sinking a jug of water in the toilet tank. ▪️Shower less in winter, it is really not necessary to shower every day. Practice dry brushing instead. ▪️Use mulch or compost in the garden to increase water absorption and the moisture content of your soil. ▪️Put a bucket in the shower while you’re waiting for the water to warm up, and use the water you catch for watering plants, flushing the toilet or cleaning.

Thai Style Spicy Mango Salad by @mymeatlessmeals
💚 Recipe • 1 tbs water • 2 tbs soy sauce • 1 tbs coconut sugar (paste) • 2 lime juice • 1 tsp chili powder • 3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced • 10 g shallots, thinly sliced • 10 g lemongrass, chopped • 2 cups fresh green mangoes, shredded • 1/4 tsp Himalayan salt* • a handful of fresh coriander (cilantro) • 1/4 cup roasted pumpkin seeds • 1/4 cup toasted desiccated coconut 🌶 Instructions: 1. Peel and shred the mangoes, using a papaya shredder or a julienne peeler, into a large bowl and set aside. 2. Make the dressing by combining water, soy sauce, sugar, lime juice, and chili powder and mix until well combined. 3. Have a taste by dipping a shred of mango into the dressing and decide whether it needs more salt/ chili powder, lime juice, or sugar. This pretty much depends on the intensity of flavours from your mangoes AND soy sauce. I added 1/4 tsp of himalayan salt and it came out perfect for me. (Himalayan salt has a milder taste compared to table salt, so if using table salt you could add just a pinch to start). 4. Add shredded mangoes, followed by roasted pumpkin seeds and skillet-toasted desiccated coconut. 5. Toss everything together along with fresh coriander/ cilantro. • #veganCommunity #Playitisvegan #vegan #vegans #govegan #vegansofig #vegansofinstagram #veganshare #veganlife #veganliving #herbivore #plantbased #factoryfarming #helpanimals #animallovers #compassion #kindness #saveanimals #animalrights #friendsnotfood #plantstrong #friendsnotfood #vegangirl #veganyoga #veganfoodlovers #adopdontshop #veganlifestyle #veganism #veganliving #veganforlive

What is the extent of your compassion? • When you see someone suffering, do you consider their societal worth before rushing to their side to lend a helping hand? When you see an injured animal, do you think of their value to the ecosystem or their profitability before throwing on your four ways, jerking the car off the road and running to their side? • Every day on social media, you see friends sharing heartwarming videos of amazing rescue stories of all species that beat the worst odds and prevailed. They make us laugh, cry and gain a newfound or emphasized respect for all beings. However, many of the same people who share those videos and jump on the opportunity to assist those in dire circumstances are the same ones who eat the body parts and secretions of innocent animals multiple times a day. • So I ask you, where does your compassion end? Do you weigh the suffering of others based on their species, the way they look or their "value" to society? Would you be any less upset by watching a cow being stabbed in throat than you would be a dog? Take a look at these photos. Does one make you more uncomfortable than another? Do the eyes of that chained dog convey more sadness and heartbreak than the eyes of the chained and abused mother cow? • All beings feel pain, suffering, happiness and joy. They experience boredom and psychological distress when condemned to a lifetime of isolation and lack of stimulation. They become excited when given affection and attention. They instinctually care for their babies and wish to nurture them. They experience heartache when their babies are ripped from their breast. • There is no difference between the suffering of a dairy cow hooked to a painful milking machine multiple times a day and that of a dog who is chained to a tree for their entire life for breeding purposes. Suffering is suffering, no matter the species. If you love animals, you cannot pay for them to be tortured and killed. If you hate the idea of puppy mills and dog fighting, you must also hate the cyclical abuse and oppression of dairy cows and other farmed animals. Be empathetic to the suffering of all species and make compassionate changes in your life.

I LOVE to eat, but I’m always looking for ways to lighten up my meals. Case in point, this taco salad. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Whenever we do Mexican, I skip the tortillas and have mine on a bed of lettuce instead, it cuts carbs and calories and gives an awesome boost of fiber and extra nutrition. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But another tip I learned 年前發佈 was to skip dressing on my salads and do salsa instead. This is especially tasty at Mexican restaurants where there’s really good salsa! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s a great way to turn up the flavor and add more depth, while slashing calories and all the crud that’s usually in dressings.

Think cage-free when it comes to eggs and chicken is “humane”?

I made hummus for the first time today!! (Crazy, I know) It was so simple to make, and waaaay cheaper than the store bought version. I honestly prefer the taste of this better, which I did NOT expect! I paired it with some herb @marysgonecrackers
and raw celery and carrots. What’s your favorite hummus pairing? Let me know in the comments below! The recipe is below 😊 Homemade Garlic Hummus: In a food processor, blend 1 can of chickpeas, 2 tbsp of tahini, lemon juice from half of a lemon, 2 tsp minced garlic, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 tsp paprika, 1 tbsp olive oil, 3 tbsp of unsweetened plant milk or water, and salt to taste. Blend until it is smooth and creamy (depending on your food processor you might have to scrape the sides down once or twice). Serve with a drizzle of olive oil on top and a sprinkle of paprika! Enjoy!! ♥️
I don’t eat the subs, but I always get the pickles here. They are the best! 😋💚
a big bowl of carbs for dinner - made a creamy garlic pasta sauce (vegan butter, flour, oat milk, nutmeg, garlic and bay leaves) then added @lindamccartneyfoods
plain sausages, spinach, onions and mushrooms and loads of wholewheat spaghetti - been gassing myself up all night that I successfully made a béchamel sauce that didn’t end up lumpy 👏🏻 🌱
