I know I’ve been real MIA. Between going back to work and throwing out my back (again) two weeks ago I’ve fallen off the wagon a bit. I’ve decided to let myself loosen the “diet reigns” while still keeping a relatively healthy diet full of vegetables and nourishing foods but without the same rigidity as I had been. I’m in burnout mode so I know a month or so “break” is needed. Here’s my sweet potato lentil soup last night. Super easy and really tasty. I served over rice.

The heartbreak I went through, was one of the worst pain I have ever felt in my whole life. I gained weight lost weight , went down a road of destruction, old habits, bad habits, things I wish I could regret but it taught me a lot also. It taught me I could feel, that I could love, that I could get through it on the other side ALIVE, and that I could be strong enough. What it means to be a good mom + being sexy... We realized a growing mental health issue among women who developed body image struggles in early to late adolescence, and we blamed the unattainable ideals put into our minds by the media. I'm not saying that's not a factor, but we also have to take a look at our family system and what ideas are being communicated from mother to daughter about self-esteem and self-image. If you heard your mom saying she thinks she looks awful, her hips are too big/skinny, and that she looks terrible in everything she packed for the summer vacation, most likely you'll repeat those same messages to yourself when you grow up. Our self-talk/inner voice is very heavily influenced by our family's ideals. So if I want my daughter to be confident, secure in her body, and able to rock that swimsuit without hating her cellulite and stretch marks as she develops, I've got to walk the talk and show her how it's done. You can't hate your body image and then hope your daughter doesn't. I can still pick my littles up even though they're 50-60 lbs 2. I can not only chase them down on a playground, but run alongside them for an endurance race all the way to the finish line 3. I increase my chances of living a longer life to watch my littles grow up 4. I instill the importance of self-care to my littles 5. I get to play like a kid with my littles 6. I can tighten my core and act as a human punching bag to entertain my littles when they're bored standing in line waiting for a roller coaster 😂 #truestory
