GO VOTE! This is not a presidential election, you probably already know that. But what does that mean for you? It means there is no electoral college involved, so: EVERY. VOTE. COUNTS. Your vote counts. My vote counts. Everybody. It also means that the outcomes will have impact. Local impact. A LOT of local impact. You’re voting for a senator (if in Texas), like @betoorourke
but you’re also voting for city council members, mayor, judges, propositions (in Austin), clerks and commissioners. These decisions will impact: Civil Rights, Transportation, Affordable Housing, our communities, our neighbors, ourselves. In big ways and little ways. We should have a say in how our government is structured, how the system impacts the structure of our lives, and now is the time to do it. Today is October 30th. Early voting is in full swing until Friday November 2nd. And Voting Day is November 6th. Do you have a plan for voting? Don’t put it off, the sooner the better. I’ve seen so many people on social media with their “I Voted” stickers, it makes my heart SO happy and full. But there’s more out there. Tell your friends, family, coworkers: VOTE.
