I like to think I make the most of my day, well most of the time anyway, and today was no exception. A day started with a quick visit to Bunnings before hosting a pet workshop in Bassendean. Bags packed and picked up hubby for a quick over night stay at the Perth Westin, as we have txs to see the band “Church”. Amazing musicians, played all the old favs and my ears are still ringing. Drinks at Garam bar, dinner with old friends at Long Chim, before the show. When life is busy, it’s nice to spend quality time with the one you love & slow down for just a moment or two.

Sunday chill. On the 🛋 with a blanket, mug of (organic) ☕️ and a 📖. Downtime is essential in this crazy fast paced life. Even more so as the days are darker and colder. Give in to than inbuilt desire to hibernate, especially on a Sunday! It means the upcoming week will be far more productive when your brain and body has had a chance to rest. I’m going to add “physical breakdown” to this. ❤️There was a terrible saying in my childhood home: “Your best just isn’t good enough.” It fueled some mad drives towards perfection. (That saying became a joke, but jokes often contain a kernel of truth.) Perfectionism is deadly. ✈️ If you have a job where things have to be perfect, (brain surgeon, air traffic controller...) practice self care and take breaks. If you don’t have that kind of job, don’t turn it into one. Not every single little thing is an emergency to stress and freak out over. Your adrenal glands can’t take that. They will wear out. Trust me. 🌲Holidays are not about perfection- they are about down time. Enjoy! xo ❤️

Today’s afternoon was spent lounging by the pool reading Orwell. Reading is one of my greatest joys and I love reading things that give me some cultural background & context to where I am travelling. I love that Seb is also an avid reader - we spend our downtime in silence reading our books and it gives me space to indulge in one of my favorite past times.
