Growing up I always wanted a dog. I really wanted something pure bred though, maybe a dog that could be trained to hunt. . I got “my” dog when @marconia93
and I started dating. She had gotten Stanley, our shop dog, about a year prior. If you don’t know him, he’s a boxer/Boston terrier mix, we’ve had him for about 5 years, and I absolutely love him. . We started talking about getting a second dog several 年前發佈. She was really big on adopting, but I still wanted a pure bred. . I started to think about what I wanted out of a dog though. . I really just wanted a dog that is happy to see me when I get home, I can play with, snuggle with at night, and just hang out with. A shelter dog could easily have all of those qualities. . After that the plan was to adopt a dog when we moved into our own house, because we still currently have roommates. . When Alyssa started working at the Edmond Animal Shelter that plan changed pretty quickly. They spent several days trying to catch this dog, when they finally did Alyssa got pretty attached to her. Something about her made Alyssa go visit her everyday. . She then started asking if I would be okay if we adopted her. My response was that I was okay with it, but it was up to her. . Stella (Black Beans) came home shortly after that, and I’m so incredibly happy Alyssa made the decision she did. . I literally love this dog more than I thought possible. She snuggles with us at night, she loves to wrestle, but the biggest thing is the fact that I know that she has such a better life now because of us. . I really don’t mean to brag about how I’m a great person, I wasn’t even the one to decide to adopt her in the first place. . I’m sharing my story, because I would like to encourage you to make the decision to adopt a dog yourself. Whether you are actively looking for a dog, or just thinking about it. . The Edmond Animal Shelter is currently overstocked with dogs and cats. Pictures 3-6 are some of the wonderful pets they currently have ready to adopt. . Adopting wasn’t my first choice, and the timing was less than ideal, but it’s is such a small burden for us to be able to provide a good home for a pet in need and I’m so happy we did.
