Rihanna declined an offer to perform at the Super Bowl LIII halftime show, Us Weekly, Entertainment Tonight, and Rolling Stone report. According to Us and ET, Rihanna’s decision is in support of quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who has not played in the league since 2017. He is currently embroiled in a legal battle against the NFL, which he believes is colluding against him due to his kneeling protests during the national anthem. Maroon 5 are reportedly performing the Super Bowl halftime show, which will be happening at Atlanta, Georgia’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium on February 3, 2019. Pitchfork has contacted representatives for Rihanna and the NFL.
