This photo shows how technology advances in times of war and the lead up to war. The smaller gun is a Pak 36 along with the later Pak 43 The Pak 36 designed in 1933. Featured a 3.7cm anti tank cannon. It could penetrate (with Pzgr 40) 64mm of armor at 100m and 22mm of armor at 1000m. The Pak 36 would be the standard anti tank cannon in the German military till 1940. The maximum fire range was 6,000 yards. 10 years later the Pak 43 would make its appearance. The Pak 43 was designed in 1943. It featured a 8.8cm kwk 43 (same gun as the tiger). The Pak 43 could penetrate (with Pzgr 39/43) 202mm at 100m and 165mm at 1000m. Another BAHAMA vacation find: Fort Fincastle was built in 1793 on the highest point on the island. It is surrounded by cannons ready to fire at enemies. Access to the fort includes The Queen’s Staircase which was built by some 600 slaves, over a 16 year period, and completed the same time as the fort. The staircase was later renamed after Queen Victoria who abolished slavery and dedicated the staircase to the slaves who built it. #fortfincastle#bahamas#nassau#history#cannons#queensstaircase#66steps#raw_abandoned#urbex#explore
The Sri Rambai cannon at Fort Cornwallis, Penang. The history of the cannon apparently dates back to 1606, when the Dutch presented it to the Sultan of Johor. It is unknown if it was the cannon that Admiral Pieter Willemsz Verhoeff presented to the Sultan or if it was another that was given previously by Admiral Cornelis Matelief de Jonge. This was taken from today's Thursday Public Line Battle hosted by the King's Royal Army. I am spawned as a French Grenadier because I was serving today as XO to fellow Royal Guardsman Pikuli (who was line CO). We led a small line of Guards on the French side this week (the KRA usually has to split their lines every Thursday in order to improve team balance). Anyways on Grassy Plains 3, my line was engaging a large British line at about 100 meters on the left side. As we were pinning the line on top of a ridge, a cannon shot from our guns - fired by fellow Royal Guardsman Artorias - managed to kill 7 or 8 British! It was a beautiful shot! And this is the reason why historically, cannons were so feared on the battlefield! There were many line battles that were determined by the effectiveness of cannons, and the crews manning them were some of the best trained troops in any army. The same goes in #Holdfast ! 🤙🏼🤙🏼 #VideoGames , #KingsRoyalArmy#LlineBattle#Artillery#Cannons#Multikill#Epic
