Would you like to join us on an incredible trip through 38 countries and countless historical cities and monuments? For the next three years, the photographer @yanbighettideflogny is going to follow the steps of the legendary traveler and storyteller Ibn Battuta, who explored these 38 countries in the 14th century, capturing their cultural essence and embracing their relation to heritage and modernity. Through this journey, Yan Bighetti and his team will celebrate cultures marrying the Old and the New, highlight the diversity of the region and share stories of the young generations deeply committed to keeping their cultural singularity while embracing change. This adventure begins in Morocco, the birthplace of Ibn Battuta. On this picture, Yan Bighetti takes us to a playground at the port sqala, in Medina of Essaouira, a site inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage list. "Al Safar - In the footsteps of Ibn Battuta" is a project built with @UNESCO , @MiskArtInst and @natgeo. See with your own eyes Bighetti's latest updates and be part of this incredible journey. Did you know that Trier, Germany, was once known as the “second Rome”? As one of Germany’s oldest cities, Trier was a Roman colony from the 1st century AD. It became one of the capitals of the Tetrarchy at the end of the 3rd century. Its architectural achievements, such as the massive Porta Nigra—the largest Roman gate north of the Alps—are reminders of its past grandeur. Trier boasts one of the largest collection of preserved Roman buildings outside of Rome – an outstanding testimony to this ancient civilisation.
